

These two teammates from last year were opponents recently with Madysons Alexandria Legend coming out on top 25-18, 25-19 and 25-15 over Abbeys Norsemen They were happy to get a picture together on this special day.

Former teammates also met on the court recently with the CLC Raiders with Baylie O'Neil scoring a victory over Abbey Presto and the Norse.
Abbey was named the MCAC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the last four games. She totaled 83 digs, 4 service aces, collected 37 digs and delivered consistent defensive play against four opponents. Coach Sara Matuszak, "We are impressed with her attitude, effort and talent. She has come in and exceeded expectations. She reads the ball well, is super quick and leads our defense with great floor communication."

You may not know Taylor Sylla but you may remember her mom, Anna Watson who graduated from Aitkin High School. Taylor attends UMD and runs cross-country. She made an immediate impact last Friday in their first meet of the season. It was the River Town Invitational in Prescott, Wisconsin. Her team took the overall title with Taylor finishing in first place. Quite a start for the Bulldog freshman. Grandparents Glen and Barb Watson of Palisade are pretty proud.



Maddy Burgstaler is in her first year at Alexandria Tech and she has appeared in 7 matches so far. She has 13 kills, 58 total attacks, 5 digs 12 block assists and 1 solo block.

Baylie O'Neil is a member of the Central Lakes Raiders and has played in 5 matches. She has 3 kills, 10 total attacks, 4 service aces, 60 receptions and 37 digs.

Abbey is in her first year of playing for Mn. North-Mesabi. She has played in 6 matches and has recorded 21 sets, 1 kill, 9 total attacks, 14 assists, 1 service ace, 97 receptions and 77 digs.

Brandon Kunz is in his first year on the Bemidji State Beaver football team and is already feeling comfortable, "Everything is good, I love it, it's a lot more work than high school but I like it. Everyone is super nice. My first goal for the year is to learn from the older guys in the O-Line room, we have some great leaders. Second, I want to bulk up, meaning being consistent in the weight room and the food court."

Jacob Williams is in his second season at Southwest Minnesota State University. Here's his take on things so far this season, "I'm doing pretty well health wise, we started practice a couple weeks ago but I've been down here a few days a week during the summer. Hopefully I'll get some carries this season. We have a new offense that we're hoping will be good for us."
