He does it all, he’s there when the teams show up, he makes sure announce table staff show up, he gets the equipment out and he’s there until the lights go off in the gym after a game or match. He is Jason Cline, Activities Director at Aitkin High School. The winter season is about to get underway so let’s check in and see if he’s ready. So what’s new this year. “We get to utilize the new Hudl live cameras for streaming. It’s going to be a great thing for families that can’t make it to the games or events. You will go to the Activities page and click on livestream, that's all there is to it." What’s the toughest part for you in the next few months. “The toughest part as an AD is the long days. I get to the school at about 5:30am to open the weight room. On game night I don’t leave until around 9-9:30.” Has it been hard to find officials this year? “I have lucked out and have a couple associations that like coming here, so it hasn’t been difficult at all, maybe for the lower-level games, that’s a little tougher.” Don't forget crowd control most nights although he's got that down to a perfect system. He loves his job, this I know. It's not always easy but then what is, right. He's just one of the reasons that sports at Aitkin High School is always a great event.
Saturday was a day that won’t be forgotten by Maggie Borseth and Lunday Nornberg. They participated in the City Auto Glass Smallmouth Bass fishing tournament on Lake Mille Lacs and fishing was good. The two-some caught five fish totaling a weight 27.22 lbs, quite a load. The tournament brought together 52 boats with teams of two and was a fiercely competitive event. The pair faced off against Bassmaster Elites, other bass league professionals, guides from Mille Lacs and other lakes and members of the general public. When the waves calmed Borseth and Nornberg were in first place and in possession of a check for $10,000. Borseth was more than excited after the win, “We take immense pride in the dedication and effort we put into our success. It would not have been possible without the support from Froggy’s Signs of Little Falls, the Borseth family, friends and the Nornberg family.”
