Tuesday, May 12-Boys and girls at Pine City

The Gobbler girls finished in 2nd place at Kettle River, just two points behind Moose Lake-Willow River 76-74. Nora Schletty won the high jump and the 4x100 relay team of Maharlika Burgos, Britton Lehrer, Nora Schletty and Myla Schletty also claimed the top spot in their event. Myla Schletty was 2nd in the long jump, Adalina Boyd was 2nd in the triple jump, La'Mya Patterson was 2nd in the 100m and the 4x200 relay with Alaina Henlin, Lehrer, Myla and Nora Schletty also finished in 2nd place. Patterson was 3rd in the 200m and the 400m. Burgos was 4th in the triple jump and Chey Shaffer was 5th in both the 100m hurdles and the discus. A good day for the ladies.
The Gobbler boys finished in third place at the Kettle River Races. Mora won the event with 180 points and Barnum with 82 finished ahead of Aitkin who finished with 67 points. The Gobblers got a 1st place finish from Tyce Wagner in the 100m, a 1st from Kaleb Lunde in the high jump and a 2nd from James Flerage in the 200m hurdles to lead the way. They also had four 3rd places, Bejamin Speed in the 100m, Lunde in the long jump, Wagner in the 200m and the 4x100 relay team of Jaden Grunenwald, Lunde, Flerage and Wagner.
The Aitkin Gobbler girls track team ran away with the "Not going to True State" meet Tuesday at East Central. They had 22 top five finishes to amass 175 points to 147 for second place Two Harbors. Aitkin had four first place finishes including Ashley Asmus in the 800m, Haylee Coil in the 100m hurdles and two relay teams. The 4x200 team of Kate Boyd, Mary Hudrlik, Addison Kehn and Hailey Munsterteiger and the 4x800 team of Paityn Hawkins, Allie Ostrowski, Emily Nordling and Asmus both claimed top spots. Aitkin picked up four more second place finishes, Hawkins in the 1600m, Brooklyn Raisch in the high jump, Ostrowski in the pole vault and Munsterteiger in the triple jump. The 4x100 relay of Hannah Hunter, Grace Hunter, Melaina Collins and Boyd were 3rd along with Kehn in the 100m, Nordling in the 1600m, Coil in the high jump, Raisch in the pole vault and Kehn in the 200m. Here are the 4th place finishers, Linzy Beaufeaux in the 100m hurdles, Hawkins in the pole vault, Boyd in the triple jump, Sydney Obert in the 300m hurdles, Hannah Rasmussen in the 400m and Elizabeth Morris in the discus.
The boys finished in 4th place in their portion of the meet. They scored 113 points while Two Harbors won the meet with 138. The Gobblers had five 1st places in the meet, Isaiah Baker won the long jump and the triple jump, Carsyn Miller won the pole vault, and two relay teams captured top spots, the 4x100 relay of Teagan Vogtlin, Lane Anderson, Braden Wagner and Baker and the 4x800 team of Lenny Hughes, Noah Hughes, Miller and Noah Moss. Weston Kyllonen was second in the pole vault and Lenny Hughes finished second in the 800m as well at the 4x400 relay of Lenny Hughes, Moss, Vogtlin and Noah Hughes. Noah Hughes was 3rd in the 1600m and Moss was 3rd in the 800m. Aitkin had two 4th places, Anderson in the 100m and Hunter Ward in the 3200m. Vogtlin had the only 5th, in the 100m.





The Aitkin Gobblers made the short jaunt to C-I Friday for the C-I Sports Boosters annual meet. The boys finished in 8th place while the girls were also 8th in the 10-team competition. The boys had two first places, Lenny Hughes in the 800m and Isaiah Baker in the long jump. Baker was 2nd in the triple jump and 5th in the high jump. The 4x800 relay team of Hughes, Noah Hughes, Carsyn Miller and Noah Moss was 3rd, the 4x100 relay of Teagan Vogtlin, Lane Anderson, Braden Wagner and Baker was 4th, the 4x400 relay of Lenny, Moss, Miller and Noah Hughes was 4th and Noah Hughes was 5th in the 1600m. On the girls side they had just three top fives in this meet. Ashley Asmus won the 800m, the 4x100 relay of Hannah Hunter, Grace Hunter, Melaina Collins and Kate Boyd was 3rd and the 4x200 relay of Boyd, Mary Hudrlik, Addison Kehn and Hailey Munsterteiger finished 5th.





The Aitkin Gobbler track teams were at the GRC "Tigerama" meet in Rush City Tuesday and both finished in 5th place. Rush City won the boys meet while Pine City was first in the girls meet. Isaiah Baker continued his domination in the jumping events winning the triple jump, high jump and long jump to lead the Gobblers. Lane Anderson had a 2nd in the 100m and a 3rd in the 200m. and the 4x800 relay team of Lenny Hughes, Carsyn Miller, Noah Moss and Noah Hughes finished 4th in their event. Ashley Asmus continues to lead the area in the 800m, picking up another 1st place finish. Addison Kehn was 2nd in the 100m, and Elizabeth Morris was 2nd in the discus. Hailey Munsterteiger picked up a 4th in the triple jump, and three relay teams had 4th place finishes. The 4x100 team of Linzy Beaufeaux, Hannah Hunter, Melaina Collins and Kate Boyd, the 4x800 team of Allie Ostrowski, Molly Franke, Emily Nordling and Asmus and the 4x200 team of Boyd, Mary Hudrlik, Kehn and Munsterteiger all picked up 4th place. The 4x400 relay of Asmus, Ostrowski, Franke and Ava Peterson-Johnson was 5th along with Boyd in the triple jump.



The Aitkin Gobbler girls finished 5th and the boys ended up in 8th place at the Pine City "Chengwatana" Invitational Friday. Ashley Asmus had the lone first place finish for the girls winning the 800m. They compiled four 3rd place finishes including Addison Kehn in both the 100m and 200m runs, and two relays, the 4x200 team of Kate Boyd, Mary Hudrlik, Grace Hunter and Hailey Munsterteiger and the 4x800 team of Allie Ostrowski, Hannah Rasmussen, Emily Nordling and Asmus. Brooklyn Raisch was 4th in the pole vault and Munsterteiger was 5th in the triple jump. Isaiah Baker again led the Gobblers with two firsts, in the triple jump and long jump and a 3rd in the high jump. He was part of the 4x100 relay that finished 3rd with Teagan Vogtlin, Lane Anderson and Braden Wagner. The 4x800 relay of Lenny Hughes, Carsyn Miller, Noah Moss and Noah Hughes was 3rd, Hughes was 3rd in the 800m, and Weston Kyllonen was 3rd in the pole vault.





The Gobbler track teams were in Braham Tuesday for the Braham Invite both teams finished in 4th place in the team standings. Here's a look at the results. On the boys side Isaiah Baker picked up another win in the triple jump with a leap of 44'1". He also had a 2nd in the long jump, a 3rd in the high jump and was part of the 4x100 relay team that took the top spot. He was joined by Lane Anderson, Teagan Vogtlin and Braden Wagner. Hughes won the 800 again as well. Aitkin also had a 2nd from the 4x800 relay team of Lenny Hughes, Carsyn Miller, Noah Moss and Noah Hughes. Weston Kyllonen was 3rd in the pole vault and Hunter Ward was 3rd in the 3200m. Josh Tucker was 4th in the pole vault, the 4x400 relay team of Moss, Miller, Hughes and Hughes was 4th and 5th place finishes went to Anderson in the 100m, Vogtlin in the 110m hurdles and Noah Hughes in the 1600m.
The girls had just one first place finish, that being Ashley Asmus in the 800m. Elizabeth Morris was 2nd in the discus, Brooklyn Raisch was 3rd in the high jump, the 4x800 relay team of Allie Ostrowski, Hannah Rasmussen, Nordling and Asmus was 3rd, and the 4x400 relay Asmus, Ostrowski, Molly Franke and Miracle Sheets was 3rd as well. 4th places went to the 4x100 relay team of Kahli Rasmussen, Grace Hunter, Franke and Melaina Collins and Hailey Munsterteiger in the triple jump. Emily Nordling was 5th in the 1600m, Hannah Rasmussen was 5th in the 400m, Kate Boyd was 5th in the triple jump, Hannah Hunter in the long jump and Lynae Kinzer in the 800m. The 4x100-B team of Linzy Beaufeaux, Hunter, Mary Hudrlik and Kate Boyd also finished 5th.







"My goals for this season are to try new thing, try to get a new personal record and to push myself to be the best I can be and to be a good teammate. My role on the team I would say is to just be a good supportive teammate."

"My role is to be a good teammate and to help out when needed. My goals are to improve my 800m time and have fun."

"My role on the team is a discus and shotput thrower. My goal for the season is to throw the discus 100 feet and qualify for Sections again."

"I feel my role for this season is to be a team player and do my best to cheer on my teammates in their events. My goal for this season is to try new things, find where I fit and work on improving in those events I fit best in."

"My role in track is to try to make an example for the other athletes, and try my hardest to be good at what I do. My goals this year are to try to go to State in the 4x100 and get a personal record in the 100m dash."



The State Track Meet is over for the Class "A" participants and the Aitkin Gobblers should be pretty pleased with their efforts. Brita Westman didn't make the finals in the 100m hurdles, but Isaiah Baker and Ashley Asmus brought home medals in two of the three events they were entered. Baker won the silver medal, 2nd place in the triple jump Tuesday and Ashley Asmus finished 6th in the 800m run Wednesday after leading after 400m in a time of 1:08.526. Ashley talked about the race today, "It was tough weaving between people as I ran. The competition was so close, and it was such a great race. All the girls I ran against were so sweet and such great athletes which made it an incredible experience." Baker was also in the high jump but didn't medal in that event.
